#4 Dive in the Indian Ocean, Kenya’s marine parks provide a safe haven for aquatic life

Nestled 11 kms off south of Kenyan coast, Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park is a safe haven for whales, dolphins and sea turtles. More than 250 species of tropical fish and 56 types of coral are recorded. Diani, Tiwiand Shimoni beaches are spots for scuba diving and snorkeling excursions. The best period is between August and March, when the ocean is the least rough.

#5 Sleep under the stars, lie down and gaze at infinity

After several days camping or in the mountains, grant you the luxury of falling a sleep in the open air. Take time to discover the Samburu’s culture. Close tothe Maasai, they come from Sudan and settled north of Mount Kenya andsouth of Lake Turkana. Semi-nomadic, these cattle, sheep, and camel herderslive in family, they dress with a piece of bright red cloth wrapped as a kilt andadorn themselves with pearl necklaces, bracelets and earrings. At the Samburu’s and Maasai’s camps, you will find four-poster beds that are rolledout every evening on the bridge along a rocky spur next to a waterhole where elephants and other animals come to drink.
